Historic Cemetery Lantern Tour

Mark your calendars for an all-ages lantern tour where history comes to life at Rhinelander's Forest Home Cemetery.

Your lantern lit guide will lead you through the headstones to visit some of Rhinelander's most prominent names in history, including Gene Shepard of Hodag fame, the father of Rhinelander, Anderson Brown, Rhinelanders first teacher, Miss Jenny Loomis and more, potrayed by local actors and historians.

One evening tour on October 4th, starting at 6pm, and one daytime tour on October 5th, starting at 1pm will be held, with tours departing every 15 minutes, with groups of 12 people max (not including children). Tours run approximately 1 hour. Dress appropriately for an outdoor event rain or shine.

Meet at Sammy Jrs Bar and Restaurant on Coon St. directly across from the main gate of Forest Home Cemetery where you can check in, purchase children's tickets, and FCFS tickets, as well as enjoy hot cocoa or other drink specials before you step across the street, and step back in time, to learn about Rhinelanders history through the lives of those resting at Forest Home.

Children between the ages of 7-13 $5, tickets and adult FCFS can be purchased at the event, cash only please.

All Proceeds benefit Pioneer Park Historical Complex and Town of Pelican Fire and Rescue in collaboration with members of the Rhinelander Historical Society Museum, and the Rhinelander Womans Club.
