The iris is the official flower of NAMI, and serves as a symbol of courage and hope inspired by Vincent van Gogh, who painted his famous irises while voluntarily committed to an asylum in Saint-Remy, France in May 1889.

ABOUT NAMI NORTHERN LAKES:

NAMI Northern Lakes, a local 501(c)(3), is a grassroots organization that works to reduce stigma surrounding mental illness, promote understanding and ensure that all people with mental health conditions receive the care and support they need.

NAMI Northern Lakes was founded in 2011, is based in Rhinelander and serves Oneida, Vilas, and Forest counties. We offer a variety of programs and services, including a drop-in center, peer and family support groups, education and outreach programs, and advocacy efforts for better mental health care. NAMI Northern Lakes relies on community support in order to provide services that fill the gaps of the mental health system. All NAMI Northern Lakes programming is free.
