Event Description:
It takes commitment to learn wheel throwing. This class is tailored to beginners who want to ‘get a taste’ of pottery and see if they want to invest the time to learn this amazing skill.
You don’t need any prior artistic abilities and don’t need to bring anything to class. The instructor will guide you through the first steps of making wheel thrown pottery: from setting up a potters-wheel, centering, opening, pulling up the wall of your pot, and safely cleaning up your work area.
Each student will be provided with 3 pounds of clay for 3 wheel thrown pieces. At the end of class, you can choose the pot that you wish to keep. The instructor will finish the piece for you, glaze it, and fire it for you. Two to three weeks after class, you can pick up your pot.
