Roots Concert Series Presents Virginia Steel

Join us for an evening of award winning flute music. 2021 WAMI People’s Choice Award winner Victoria Shoemaker is a classically trained flutist whose music bridges the ancient and the modern. A graduate of VanderCook College of Music, she explores antique and contemporary world flutes, studying under Grammy-nominated flutist Peter Phippen. Her collaborations include Apparitions, Dreams, and Imaginings (2021), which reached #13 on One World Music Radio (UK). Peter Phippen, a Projekt Records Recording Artist and Grammy nominee, has spent three decades and 22 albums exploring the haunting voices of flutes from around the world. His soulful, improvisational style—rooted in history and heart—has earned him lifetime achievement recognition and international acclaim. Together, Shoemaker and Phippen invite you into a soundscape where tradition meets imagination. The Roots Concert Series offers a listening room style experience on the indoor ArtStart stage.
