Date:
May 3, 2025
Time:
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Every spring since its creation in 2014, a handful of undergraduate students from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point have been running the Ruffed Grouse Project, a research project centered around Ruffed Grouse ecology. Join students currently involved with the project for a FREE educational presentation about the research conducted on site at Treehaven! Explore their methods including trapping, drumming log surveys, and radio telemetry, and learn how these skills help the students collect important data that allows them to understand this unique upland game bird species!
After the presentation, attendees may optionally head outside with the student researchers and observe as they track radio-collared grouse using telemetry equipment. This demonstration will give you a closer look at the methods discussed, and you may even spot a grouse or two!
