Wildlife Wednesday: Owls

  • Share:
Name: Wildlife Wednesday: Owls
Date: February 18, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM CST
Event Description:
Discover wildlife that calls Wisconsin's Northwoods home through Wildlife Wednesdays at Treehaven! Join us monthly for this FREE all-ages program series, and explore the natural history of each month's focus animal through interactive activities, guided walks, and/or specimen observation. From fur to feathers, woods to water, predator to prey, and more, experience the diversity of the animal world right outside our windows—and learn how you can help protect it!

Owls prefer to blend in and remain unseen, and you're more likely to hear one than you are to see one. However, that doesn't stop these fascinating birds of prey from capturing our attention! At an outdoor campfire talk, we'll explore the traits that make owls so captivating and unique, and discuss where (and when) you might search for owl species present in the Northwoods. Some of our owls like to get a head start on courtship and nesting well before spring arrives, and others are occasional visitors from further north—making winter the best time of year to go "owling"! After the talk, we will do just that and head out on an (optional) short night hike to watch and listen for owls. You'll leave with knowledge of how you can responsibly observe, appreciate, and protect these popular birds!
