  • Share:
Name: Wildlife Wednesday: Sandhill Cranes
Date: May 14, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Cranes are some of the most beloved birds across the world, captivating countless observers with their majestic courtship dances and regal calls. However, the majority of crane species worldwide face serious threats to their survival. Sandhill cranes were once no exception! This bird was historically almost eliminated from many states including Wisconsin, but through remarkable conservation efforts, we now host an abundant population. Through a fireside chat at scenic Dragonfly Pond, explore the traits and history of sandhill cranes and discuss the ongoing conservation of this iconic bird. Dragonfly Pond's sandhill cranes may even decide to put on a show, giving you the opportunity to hear their calls or glimpse them across the pond! Bring your own binoculars, or rent a pair of ours for $1 (cash only) for better viewing.
