Job Description
WXPR Public Radio, an award-winning NPR affiliate station in Rhinelander, WI, is seeking a journalism-focused broadcast professional to serve as a general assignment reporter in northern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and passionate about how news contributes to and informs our region. They are curious, rigorous, enthusiastic, and kind. The reporter will conduct breaking news coverage as needed, and will produce short readers, spots and feature-length pieces. They will also be versed in repackaging broadcast content for digital platforms. WXPR is especially interested in a candidate with an interest in local government and politics and/or environmental reporting.

This is a full-time exempt position. The Reporter reports to the News Director and works with the General Manager to support the station mission.

Your Responsibilities: -Work with the WXPR news staff to report, write and produce newscasts, spots and features for Morning Edition and All Things Considered -Work with News Director on developing story ideas, tracking issues and events -Work with and produces features and commentaries done by community reporters -Utilize social media applications to disseminate news to and engage the WXPR audience -Attend news events and breaking news -Participate in station events and fundraising activities -Fill in as host as needed on Morning Edition and All Things Considered -Operate broadcast board, ENCO automation systems and editing systems
