Northwoods Historian to Receive Award at Treehaven

Northwoods historian Kerry Bloedorn, known for bringing Northwoods history to life through storytelling, museum work, and broadcast media, will receive an award on September 25th at the UWSP Treehaven campus in Tomahawk.

The Forest History Association of Wisconsin will present the Fixmer Award for excellence in telling the story of Wisconsin's forests and forestry at its annual conference and banquet. The award will be formally presented at the banquet, which starts at 4:30 PM on Friday evening. The evening's entertainment features historic logging folk songs performed by Matt Cristoff, with dinner provided by the chefs at Treehaven.

The public is welcome to register and attend any part of the two-day conference on September 25 and 26. In recognition of our country’s 250th anniversary, this year’s conference theme is King’s Pines to King’s Dam: Stories of American Forests. Mr. Bloedorn will be a featured speaker and will lead a tour of the historic King’s Dam on the Wisconsin River. Registration and conference details are available at foresthistoryassociationwi.com/.
